“Red shirts are the red shirts of the Culture Club.”
That’s how Gianluca Vialli, the head of Italy’s national soccer association, presented the club’s red shirt design at the club launch at the beginning of the week.
“The red shirt of the culture club is a sign of strength and pride,” Vialli said.
“A red shirt means we are all in the same boat, that we all belong together, that the club and the nation are one.”
In order to claim the Red Shirt of the Cultural Club, a group of footballers will have to score a goal, score an assist and get three or more other players into the box.
It’s the first time this season that Juventus have won the Red-Shirt competition, having previously won it in the 2015/16 season.
It was a rare win for Juve as the club have struggled in recent years to get the ball into the back of the net.
Juventus have now won the trophy twice this season, the last time back in the UEFA Champions League in May.
The Italian side are hoping that the win against Napoli on Wednesday will put them back on top of the table, with their three points in their opening eight games, but the Italians will need to take all three points to secure the title.
